Qualifying for States

Tournament Champions

Qualifying through performance on the field. The winners of the entire tournament (the final alliance) automatically qualify for the State Championship.

Excellence Award

The highest award presented in a VEX Robotics competition. This is given to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in creating a high-quality VEX robotics program.

  • Criteria: Strong performance in Qualification Matches, high ranking in Robot Skills, an exceptional Engineering Notebook, and a professional team interview with judges.

Skills Champion

Teams can also qualify by achieving the highest combined score in Driver Skills (human-controlled) and Programming Skills (autonomous).

Autonomous Win Point (AWP)

World Level AWP Criteria

To achieve the Autonomous Win Point at the World Championship level, significantly higher precision and scoring volume are required compared to local events.

  • Score 10 Blocks: At least ten (10) blocks of the Alliance's color must be scored in goals.
  • Own 3 Goals (Advanced): At least three (3) different goals must include at least two (2) scored blocks of the Alliance's color.
  • Clear Loaders: At least three (3) blocks of the Alliance's color must be removed from Loaders adjacent to the Alliance's Station.
  • Park Zone Violation: Neither robot is partially or entirely within the vertical projection of its Alliance-colored Park Zone or contacting the Park Zone barrier.

Scoring Values

  • Autonomous Bonus: 10 Points (Split 5 each if tie)
  • Each Block Scored: 3 Points
  • Controlled Zone (Long Goal): 10 Points
  • Controlled Center Goal (Upper): 8 Points
  • Controlled Center Goal (Lower): 6 Points
  • 1 Parked Alliance Robot: 8 Points
  • 2 Parked Alliance Robots: 30 Points
Game Overview

VEX V5 "Pushback"

The 2025-2026 Challenge focuses on field control and rapid scoring cycles.

  • Objective: Score blocks in goals and clear opposing zones.
  • Key Scoring: Alliance colored blocks in goals, clearing loaders, and maintaining possession of key field quadrants.

Skills Challenges

Solo matches played against the clock.

  • Driver Skills: Controlled by the drive team (Bryan). Focuses on cycle time.
  • Auton Skills: Controlled entirely by code (Arjun & Noah).
